The Latest iMac Rumours

Apple’s WWDC is scheduled for June this year and rumours are increasing that it will witness a new range of iMacs, including a new low-cost version.

Many now believe that the Mac Mini could be making way for the new low cost iMac. The Mac Mini is long overdue an update and this has given rise to the fact that people now feel that Apple may discontinue it.

Couple this with Apple’s desire to appeal to the Chinese and Asian markets and a low cost iMac could be the ideal product. So how much will it cost? Speculation suggests that it will be around the £950 mark which would place it in between the MacBook Air and the current entry level 21.5” iMac.

It is unlikely that the new iMacs will look different as they were only significantly redesigned in September 2012. The introduction of Intel’s Broadwell processor is likely to be included but delays here could force a launch back until the autumn.

We often get asked whether a Retina Display iMac will be produced. Whilst the screen resolution on the iMacs will be improved a true Retina Display is unlikely. The current resolution on the 27” iMac is 2,560 x 1,440 and to be a Retina is to would have to increase to 5,120 x 2,880. This would require a significant upgrade on the graphics capabilities and the cost of producing such a screen would be prohibitive.

The current 21.5 and 27” iMacs are our most popular models and we can deliver these within 2-3 days. If you require a new iMac call us on 0121 285 0098 or email info@localhost
